I'm left wondering with more specifics as to why ubuntu was used as a base instead of the parent debian. It seems like ubuntu adds more restricted firmware and uses more binary blobs then debian. So rather that using a base that adds that type of software in and then removing it agian, why not just start with debian, which already takes a hard line on such issues?
